Coming to Toronto in September--Should I bring a kilt?

I will be in Toronto for 6 days from Sept 7 through 13 for an educational conference. Have to look at the brochure again but am sure there will be at least a few free nights while there. Wife and (possibly kilted) boy will be coming along for the vacation and we will be staying at the Delta Chelsea Inn, which I believe is near the Hospital for Sick Children.

If anybody in the area wants to get together for a kilt night, according to my meeting schedule I have Monday night (depending on what time we arrive by flight), Thursday, and Saturday night that week open. I would love to meet some of the kilted brethren of the Toronto area for dinner and/or drinks. My wife has approved me bringing one kilt and accoutrements and one night on the town kilted while there. Should have my Maple Leaf Tewksbury tank to show off by then, which I think would be a very appropriate tartan to wear.

Looking forward to the trip.

Sounds good to me, I look forward to it, any day that suits you best.

I stay at the Delta Chelsea when I'm in Toronto, so I've already paved the way for you for wearing a kilt there. Actually I was there last weekend.
I teach at Ryerson University on Thursdays, which is one block away from the hotel.
Might be a day for the DFT tartan in honour of your wife.
Cheers

Actually, Grant, I think that is just about everybody on the forum. I do show occasional mercy, or at least mild restraint at times.

The Tewksbury 16oz maple Leaf of F&K tartan should be here in the next couple weeks as we were just exchanging emails about final details yesterday. Will be proud to wear it, even though I am not from Canada, I did spend a lot of time in my younger and older days in various parts thereof.

Big apologies are in order as my wife and I never came through with our promise of Dutch goodies in thanks for sending us that swatch of DFT last year. Right around the time we got it my professional life started going in the crapper and we started preparing for the move we eventually made, and completely forgot about the Dutch goodies order she ws going to put in that included your thank you gift. Not an acceptable excuse, IMHO, but at least an explanation. That will be remedied. Again, I am sorry we did not fulfill our end of the bargain. Looking forward to seeing you in the DFT in Toronto in September.

I'll be back North by that time, but dealing with a new supervisor - give me a couple of weeks notice (if you can), and I should have the night free.
I look forward to meeting you in September.

Oh, and as I told the SEKS last weekend - Grant really isn't that bad in person. Just avoid the subject of kilt checks and pudding, and whatever you do, don't maintain eye contact, and everything will be fine. Really.

Tell you what, there isn't a more comfortable way to sit through a week of day long conferences than kilted. You're gonna need more than one kilt...

And, if you're doing any networking its a lot easier for folks to remember you.
