Re: Schweinfurt Germany
This does not answer your question, but I just wanted to comment. I went to Schweinfurt regularly when I was stationed in Bad Kissingen from 1988-90. I was with G Troop, 2-11th ACR before they left Daley Barracks. I bought my wife's engagement ring in the PX there. That was my first duty station, but I retired out of Ft Richardson, AK. Sorry for the ramble, it got me thinking back.

Re: Schweinfurt Germany
I expect to be not too far away from Schweinfurt when I visit Furth, near Nuremberg. My trip is planned for 12th to 15th December.

Re: Schweinfurt Germany
Yes, there were many closings after I left. I was aware of them , though, as I only retired a couple of years ago.

Re: Schweinfurt Germany
My MOS while in Germany was 11C1P. The "P" identifier did not come in to play as my duty position was as a Mortar Crewman on a M106A2 (113 Series) Mortar Carrier. I was the assistant gunner on a 4.2 Inch Mortar. I was the gunner when I PCS'd to Ft Stewart after I left Germany. It was different at Ft Stewart as my unit there was Mechanized Infantry instead of Armored Cavalry. I was also a fuel handler (Aircraft) for a while, but retired from Ft Richardson as 11 Boogie Man in a parachute position.
Is this your first tour in Germany?
