    Can you re-size a kilt?

Lets just say I lost a few pounds and now my kilt is more than just a bitt loose on the last hole in the straps. Is there a way to sinch the waist even more or am I out of one of my favorite kilts?

    You can make it smaller.

You can move the buckle on your right hip and the strap on the left hip by the same amount.

Re: Can you re-size a kilt?

Here is what I would do:
    1. Lay the kilt flat with the top of the kilt away from you.
    2. Measure from the left hand apron to the farthest right buckle (middle of the tang that goes in the belt or the bar that goes across)
    3. Measure from the right belt (I would use the middle belt hole) to the farthest to the left belt buckle.
    4. Determine how much you want to take from the waist (2" should be no problem) and mark the kilt with a pin or tailors chalk.
    5. Remove the stitching from the right belt and move it to the left the amount you want to reduce the waist.
    6. Get some heavy duty Guterman thread, beeswax the thread, and sew (#7 needle) the belt back on making sure you go all the way thru the kilt with stitches.
    7. The right hand buckle needs to move to the left also the same amount.
    8. Take the stitching out of the buckle and sew it back on using the method as it was originally sewn using heavy duty thread.

Pictures would help on determining the exact method to reattach the belts and buckles.

    Anything's possible, if it happens.

...if you need more than an inch or two, talk to Matt.

I had my tank taken in about 2 inches. Just be aware that taking in too much will cause the apron to come around a little more than you may be used to. I only noticed when I first put it on, but after a few hours I no longer noticed.

Just told Matt that I needed my kilt taken in... I think mine was the first one he ever took in, in fact. Matt took care of the rest.
