    Jacobian style clothing

    thought id put these photos on here for folks to view
    id went to Edinburgh a few weeks back and taken these images at the national museum of Scotland
    hoping to go back soon for a better visit as i was only there for about 70 mins having a quick scoot round the museum to see what's what

    Thanks for the pics (sorry your trip couldn't have been longer). My british history class has gone through l the Stuarts and were now beginning the Jacobite rebellions.

    A point of clarifcation and one often misunderstood: Jacobean and Jacobite are not the same thing.

    The former refers to the period covered by the reign of JamesVI/I (1603-25).

    Jacobites were supporters of the House of Stuart during various risings (1688-1745) that aimed to get a (Catholic) Stuart King back on the throne.

    Very interesting. I can see why it would cause confusion...I'll admit, I just assumed they were the same thing myself. Thanks!

    well both are from the 1700 upwards period apologies for the wrong wording i shall ask the mods to retitle the thread jacobite period clothing

    Thanks for the clarification. I also had inadvertently combined these terms in my mind.
