Jacobite Sporran

I am putting together a Jacobite impression and have learned a great deal from this forum already. One thing I would like to know more about is the average man's day sporran.

I want to make my sporran and have already looked at many other posts on the subject. I have studied the "how to's" and patterns of the modern Rob Roy bag style sporrans and wonder how accurate are they?

In short do any sporrans from the Jacobite period still exist and if so, does anyone have images of those sporrans for me to study? If not, are there any painting, from the period, that have good renderings of the sporrans.

From period imagery, I'd say the brass-cantled sporrans - like the many shown in the other thread - were the most common type for the Jacobite period. (I hope "Artificer and Co." start reproducing them soon, because I really want one! )

Otherwise, the simple, soft-pouch style with leather flap and drawstrings seems the other most common type of the period.



Here's mine (shown worn with a modern kilt):



It's really just a circle of soft leather gathered together with a drawstring, with a flap a belt-loop attached at the back. Here's another modern rendition (with a goofy brass heart added, for some reason!):
