    Looking for '45 sketches

I’m looking for an online source for the Penicuik drawings that depict Scottish dress, weapons and martial arts during the 18th c. The original sketches are in the book “Witness to Rebellion: John Maclean's Diary of the 'Forty-Five and the Penicuik Drawings.” Does anyone know if they can be found online?

I don't know of an online source at the moment, but I do know Stuart Reid uses them in both his Osprey titles on the Jacobites, The Jacobite Army in the Elite series, and Highland Clansmen in the Warrior series.

There is a copy available here http://www.myarmoury.com/books/offer...747&action=New but it's $150. Don;t know how much you want it.

Todd's right: most of them appear in this book. I can't find an online source that shows more than a couple of the sketches....

Drat! I figured as much. I used to have scans of a lot of the sketches but lost them when my last computer crapped out. I still have the hard drive kicking around somewhere. Maybe I can extract them. I'm not ready to plunk down a lot of money for the book but may check out the Osprey titles at some point. Thanks for the info.

You may find your local library can acquire the book for you and you can re-scan or otherwise copy the photos. My local library has various other local, county and the state library it can draw from. A definite alternative to $150.00.

I have them scanned. Unless someone beats me to it over the weekend look for me to post them here by Sunday

I wonder if I might request that they be big enough to download and examine at leisure?

Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you on this. I've been blindsided at my end but will get them posted in a couple of hours (or sooner).
