Excellent point. Jeans are also not a national dress that is held in such a high regard by many Highland Scots and should be preserved as such. Perhaps denim is the national dress of the American cowboy? I am not sure, and I am an American. Two different ideals mate, but I do understand your point. We shall agree to disagree Donnie, meantime I shall remove the knot from my knickers, lol, just kidding! Thanks for contributing.

Um... You never know around here.

I've never known ridiculousness to stop something from ever happening.

And with that, I have posted two too many times in this thread.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

    True, but...
I agree that he looks ridiculous, but I also think that jeans sagging down to show your *** are ridiculous.
...there are certainly "guidelines". Wearing your jeans low and baggy has it's place, as much as wearing nut-huggers at your pants waist. I have a pair of both, and a couple options in between, in my closet.

Kilts are most certainly not jeans. As much as we (in America) have embraced the idea that we are all unique and beautifully individual, and that being different is automatically good, and that we should walk a mile in the shoes of those who think or feel different from us, it does not diminish the respectful acknowledgement which a historic and cultural icon deserves.

In other words, our casual attitude towards the kilt and similar derived garments does not mean it's suddenly a-ok to dress like a goofball.

    Ever.

    Even in jeans.

Unless it's for a party, and you are supposed to come dressed like a doofus.

I can give examples if you like, of unfashionable but well-meaning goofballery...but certainly my examples would offend all the unique and beautiful individuals busy celebrating their right to be goofballs in their own different ways.

Nope . But you just gave me an idea . We'll see how long my idea lasts, with all you so-easily-offended people around here! .

We don't even bat an eye at stuff like that in New York. It's the ones in the heavy coats in July with the wires coming out of the sleeves that get our attention.
