    A Question About Future Purchases

I have made several post regarding a future kilt purchase and it was suggested that I post to ask the different affiliated makers/owners about what I want in my kilt and get the information directly from them, so here it goes.

I want a kilt for myself that is a reward for once I lose weight, prolly 4-8 months. This kilt is going to be a everyday and multipurpose kilt. For instance I would like to use it hiking or going to a business casual event. Is this a possibility? I am wanting it to be non-tartan for now. I am wanting pockets, most likely cargo style. Pleat choice is completely open for discussion so please give me feedback and information on that. I would like to ask what other things would you suggest? What do your kilts have to offer in these areas? Help me to be a good customer as well as a great kilt wearer. I do plan on purchasing many kilts in the future and I love knowing about my investment, no bit of information is too minuscule. Well as long as it is in a form I can understand.

    Thanks for your time,

    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,

Although I do make solid-coloured kilts (in any of the pleating styles I offer), I am a traditional kiltmaker and only work with worsted wool of 13 oz. or higher weight. Likewise, I don't make kilts with pockets or any other 'contemporary' features.

For the kilt you describe, I would suggest Alt.Kilt, who is a Forum Partner like myself.

If you ever find yourself looking for a more traditional model (and the accessories which accompany it) I would be more than happy to accommodate you!

You can't go wrong here. John is a wonderful kilt maker and a real gentleman. He has sewn me a Saffron kilt, which was my first wool kilt and it is very nice. More recently John created a wonderful Capercaillie kilt for me. I recommend him without reservation.

Likewise, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John.

My experiences dealing with him with when having my MacDonald of Clanranald box pleat made made the choice easy for when the Cthulhu tartan is made - I'll be looking to Keltoi again without doubt.
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't, none is possible.
