18oz. tartan?
Do yall know of anybody that custom weaves 18oz tartan? Someday I hope to get my family tartan woven, might as well get some real heavy weight if it ever happens.
Thanks

You could try http://www.scotweb.co.uk/
Nick (is on this forum) also owns http://www.dcdalgliesh.co.uk/
16oz is heavy enough for me.

DC Dalgliesh is the place. They weave a double sley cloth that comes out at 18oz. It's their F1 range and is fantastic cloth.

I believe House of Edgar will do a special weave for you as well

Granted it has been a few years, but I attempted to order some tartan in F1 a couple of times and got nowhere. I began to think that one had to be initiated into a secret club to get their F1 range, so I gave up. Maybe you know a secret I don't! :-)

Well it's been a fews years too. Bob Martin made me a 79th NYH copy so that dates it. I guess the only way would be to get you feet in his in-tray.

Strathmore Woollen Company also advertise special weaves and I know Marton Mills will do the same but Marton Mills will require you to take a whole bolt of cloth (Strathmore may be the same), which is OK if you're one of 15 brothers wanting identical kilts

Dutch Friendship Tartan, a Lochcarron woven tartan, is now available in 18 oz, so I assume that Lochcarron also does some special order in 18oz.

Re: 18oz. tartan?
The House of Labhran advertises what they call a "Regimental tartan kilt", but they don't say anything more about it, eg the cloth weight. One has to contact them for details, ... might be worth an email though.

Good luck.

Is this kind of information available anywhere on their web site, or do you have to contact them and make a direct inquiry in order to obtain it? All I can locate is their "HIGHLANDWEAR & TARTAN" page that shows available tartans in their three standard weight ranges.
Thanks.
