Another tartan I'm gonna have to have...

Yeah, addiction full force. This here I've been looking for some time. It's the U.S. Air Force tartan. It's classified as "unofficial" but it's been associated with the Air Force for some time, so good enough for me. The other option would the USAF Reserves Pipe band. I was never in the USAFR nor their pipe band, so no.

I read somewhere that this tartan is also known as the "Lady Jane." That in itself reminds me of one of my favorite band's best albums...

Am I just reaching for straws with that last one? Perhaps.

Nice tartan! I like the colors. I've seen pics of the Army, Marines and Air Force tartans, and they look noice! I never knew that there were tartans for the US military until a few days ago. I should have posted the pics, but, I forget the site that the pics were on.

Yes I sure am. Four years of active duty. Spent two years in Germany and two years in Utah.

Actually, I love both of those. But, what I was referring to is a band called Converge and their album "Jane Doe."

I have a book of uniform plates from the Company of Military Historians, and one of them depicts the USAFR Pipes and Drums in the 1960's; before they adopted the "Lady Jane" tartan, the band wore the Mitchell Tartan, in honour of General William "Billy" Mitchell, who was one of the advocates of modern air power.

The Billy Mitchell Scottish Pipe Band wears the Mitchell Tartan:

Russells, Roses and Galbraiths will recognise the tartan, as it is also "theirs" as well!

I think you mean that Russells, HUNTERS, and Galbraiths share the same tartan as the Mitchells. The Clan Rose has a few tartans of their own, and this ain't one of them. :-)
