    Anybody know?

Can anybody identify either (or both) of these two tartans, (or tell me whether or not they're clan tartans at all?) I'd really appreciate it!

On the left of the photo is Highland Queen brand kilt, a kilt I picked up at a thrift store for...let's just say not much. I'll probably be putting up on eBay soon. On the right, is the knife-pleated kilt I have in progress for my little brother, need to finish it one of these days. The fabric is actually two pillow shams I got for a couple dollars at Goodwill, took apart and then stitched end to end for a total of about 5 yards.

Here are close-ups of the setts for both.

Any help would be fantastic! Thanks!

The one on the LEFT (blue one) is Nova Scotia tartan. The one on the right (Grey) is Thompson Grey.

It's very close to Thompson and likely inspried from the Grey Thompson, but it's not quite the registered one Grey Thompson
    And my Grey Thompson kilt

Agreed. This has the Thompson setting but is not any of the known variants so named nor is it in the STA Master Db (until now). That means that it could be a Thompson or perhaphs something completely different. I'd certainly steer away from calling it a Thompson for now.

Will somebody please enlighten us as to the differences. On my monitor paulhenry's kilt looks to be in identical tartan to the one illustrated by the Original Poster.

I think they mean that the tartan in question is a bit green'ish in contrast to the grey Thompson.

Might I be so bold as to suggest that before it goes the eBay route, you place it in the "For Sale" section here. I for one, if it's the right size, could be interested without having to bid against the rest of the world.

With a closer look I can't seem to spot it either
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Thanks for all your input! Cessna and Spc. Scott, the cloth I have is very green compared to paulhenry's kilt, and the example he posted.

    tinksdad, I may consider that. I think it's a girl's kilt though, size 8. It's pretty small. :P
