    custom weave pv?

I'm wanting a couple of casual kilts in pv in my clan tartan. Can anyone tell me what mills will weave pv tartan to order? Thanks.

    Rondo,

As you know P/V stands for a blend of Polyester and Rayon. (Viscose is the British term for Rayon.)

Yes, there are mills in Pakistan, India, Tawain and Mainland China that weave versions of a Polyester and Rayon blend but there is only one mill that I would trust to weave fabric for a kilt.

    Marton Mills in Otley, UK.

They currently list 79 Tartans in their stock line.
The fabric is woven in a 12oz per fabric yard equivilant weight only. (any claims you may have seen of heavy weight P/V should be proven with an actual sample and a scale.)

To view the currently available Tartans please follow this link to the Marton Mills website.

Marton Mills will, of course, do a special weave of any Tartan if the thread count is known. They do have a minimum yardage requirement so the best advice is to contact them directly for minimums and pricing.
When you contact them it is advisable to be as specific as possible about the exact yarn colors you are looking for. Ask for yarn samples to insure you know exactly what you will get.

I have found the folks at Marton Mills to be extremly helpful and more than willing to meet my needs. (I order approx. 600 yards of their fabric a year.)

They are the weavers of the X Marks Tartan in P/V.

Be sure to specify that you need a Kilt Selvage when they weave. Marton Mills weave on two different types of looms and only one makes a kilt selvage. The last run of XMTS tartan had to be hemmed.
