    Federal Memorial Tartan

This is the 150th anniversary of the US Civil War. There was a tartan designed called the Federal Memorial Tartan to remember the boys in blue. I was wondering if there were enough people here interested in the tartan that we could get some of it made for kilts.

I've had that woven for a kilt before, though down here where I'm from it's not in as high demand as the Confederate Memorial tartan! lol.... Nevertheless, we can do one-offs for anyone who wants a kilt, if you don't get a large group order together. Just let me know.

    Matt,

Did you have any issues getting permission from Dr. Smith? I had thought about weaving that tartan for myself (being a proud northerner and great-something grandson of an Union Infantryman).

There is at least one Sons of Union Veterans camp in Massachusetts that is selling ties in the Federal Memorial tartan, so I would assume that Dr. Smith gave the organization permission to sell said items.

Rocky, we need you in the SUV! I'm a proud descendent of 6 Union soldiers from Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana -- Mudsills all!

The tartan has been on my wish list. Two great great grandfathers who served.

Dr. Smith can be difficult to get an okie doakie from. He doesn't even respond to emails for his ad in Highlander. My kiltmaker, who knows him well, had a difficult time getting the okay for my Arizona tartan kilt.

But, if it works, keep me posted - I'm for sure interested - PV or Wool

Yep I had both sides of the field covered in that one Had two Confedrates one an Artillery captian and the other, Cpt. Murray Taylor aid to AP Hill. Then I have the RI Federal regiments ancestors. Off topic but is there a SAR or Revolutionary tartan?

I came across this one this afternoon: Kings Mountain 1780 (Commemorative).

Of course there is the American St. Andrews which was first introduced as the American Bicentennial.
