    Let's play "Identify These Tartans"

Ok... a lot of you will find this thread to be completely off the wall and think me a bit strange. I'm comfortable with that, because... well... I DID volunteer to serve on a black metal tube that sinks on purpose, so I'm not entirely "sane" anyway. lmao

Anyway, just a tad of background info here... I'm a HUGE World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fan. I spend ENORMOUS amounts of money to watch their pay-per-views, I sit glued to the TV for their flagship show, Raw, every Monday night, and I go to live shows as often as I can.
Now, you're probably asking "what does this have to do with kilts?" I'm getting there.
Anyone who has ever had any interest at all in what was once called World Wrestling Federation knows who "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is. For those that don't... he's wrestler whose character is a crazy Scot (he's actually from Canada, but is of Scottish decent). He's well known for being a sneaky, coniving "heel" (wrestling jargon for bad guy). His trademark attire is a kilt, a t-shirt that says "Hot Rod" and a black leather jacket. Photo:

Also, there's a new tag team duo in the WWE, known as The Highlanders. The guys were actually born and raised in Oban, Scotland. They portray cousins Robbie and Rory MacAllister. They're pretty good as a team, but they don't get enough mat time in my opinion. Anyway, they too wrestle in kilts. Photo:

Now, to the point: Name those tartans! Mainly because I want them

The bottom picture shows the Maple Leaf tartan, ITI number 2034.

The top picture is none other than the Roddy "Rowdy" Piper tartan, recorded in the International Tartan Index as No. 5411.

Well I was going to say that the bottom one was very similar to the Irish County Cavan tartan, but I would never contradict Matt! By definition I would be wrong.

I've heard of hunting tartans, and weathered tartans, and ancient tartans...now maybe we have a "sweated tartan."

That tartan looks much better in those pictures than the images I've seen.

I may be mis-remembering, but the Highlanders' kilts were specially designed by our own MacHummel, of Canadian Casual Kilts. He had to come up with a closure that would be comfortable enough, but also strong enough, to wrestle in.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

    What he said.
    (I guess I didn't mis-remember after all.)
