| | | New Rabbinical Tartan
A tartan has just been registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans for ordained rabbis only. http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...aspx?ref=10100
I know there is another Jewish tartan, but to my knowledge this is the only one restricted to rabbis, and one of the few restricted to a particular religion or denomination.

That's a handsome tartan. I didn't expect to see red in it; I assumed it would be all blue and white. I'd like to see it woven.
Could it be used as a prayer shawl?

Cool!
I like the notes about restrictions, almost expected (given my study of the Mosaic Law and the Hebrew people.)
I doubt I'll ever come anywhere close to being an ordained rabbi though. |

It was interesting the resrtictions on making sure it was kosher.
this is meant as humor not poking fun at religion. (hoping god doesn't hit me with lightning bolt) This means that the tartan must be woven from 100% virgin wool... how do they know if they sheep have had sex or not?? |

Skawt, maybe better you hadn't even tried to answer the question!
In reference to the question about a prayer shawl, that would be a plaid. Same use, just setting is different, indoors as opposed to out. Given the weight of the wool, though, might be too heavy for that, unless one gets a separate weight wool for it.

And this from a guy based in Lodi, California, yet. Turns out, among his other accomplishments, the registrant is a bagpiper. (Personally, I'm not big on restricted tartans, and suspect the demand for this one will be limited to Dr. Pazo, but hey, the more the merrier.)
Best regards,
Jake
