Yea, it was sort of a shock when I logged on this morning even though I knew it was coming.

I think I liked the old pictures better than all the new skimpy tartan clan women.

Still quite a few dead links and errors but it looks like it will have a lot of good, new stuff. Yeah, I'm not sure the scanty clothed ladies are very professional, not that I don't appreciate them. I did notice Kimberly Guilfoyle in one of them though and good to see the one dress with Fraser Red tartan in it.

Did anyone notice the new section for kids?
http://www.tartansauthority.com/resources/colouring-in

My children absolutely are addicted to the coloring book.

I noticed a lot of dead links, as well, but obviously there is a lot of growth yet to happen on the site. I plan on checking back frequently, especially once members get their reissued passwords in a few days.

Looks like there will be a lot of information to be found there, beyond just the simple tartan look ups.

I think that they are trying to be a little too "modern". It has diminished itself as an academic resource based on how they present themselves and their image.

If you notice when you look at any given page on the site, the image in the upper right will periodically change, I suppose selecting randomly from a bank of images, that alternates between traditional and historic Highland dress, from the MacLeay portraits primarily, and more modern examples of how tartan is worn from various sources.

I think that the goal here is to show that tartan is both something belonging to tradition and something belonging to modern day fashion, and any comprehensive approach to tartan must consider both aspects.

With that much, I agree wholeheartedly. And I rather like seeing a mix of the traditional and contemporary.

However, I also agree that some of the less modest examples of women's apparell really don't belong on the site for many reasons, not the least of which being that the STA is attempting to attract a younger generation to their site by way of the "Bairns" coloring book section.

Very impressive.

What a great new resource. I really like the information available and the way it's presented.
