    Norwegian Centennial Tartan

Just before Christmas I ordered a kilt length of the Norwegian Centennial tartan, 16 oz woven by DC Dalgliesh. I was very lucky to get a length of tartan from a previous run. I plan to make a kilt of this cloth, but it will probably take some time since I have so much else to do these days.
The Norwegian Centennial was made as a gift to the Norwegian people to celebrate the centenary of the creation of the independent sovereign State of Norway in 1905.

I looked up the website of the Scottish Tartan Authority to see what they said about my tartan Norwegian Centennial. To my positive surprise was my webpages www.tartan.no cited in the description of this tartan. Pretty cool I think.

    Here's some pics:

That is a lovely tartan and should make a very distinctive kilt!

As one who is descended from Norwegians on my mother's side (they came in the 1840's from the eastern end of the Sognfjord and a bit farther east, taking as surnames the farms they came from (Offerdahl and Ellestad), I'm very pleased to see that Norway is represented by such a beautiful tartan. I know there are a few other tartans for Norway, too.

I wish you much luck getting your tartan made into a kilt!

This is a great tartan, Oddern. I like the way it reflects the cross in the Norwegian flag.
