    Predominantly Black Tartans?

I've been looking for examples of tartans with a black background or major stripe for a personal project of mine.

I thought of using the search feature, but since "black" and "tartan" are not the most exclusive of search terms around here, the results were frustratingly non-specific!

Obviously Black Stewart comes to mind, and the Shepherd Check. Can anyone suggest others?

Check out the Silver Thistle - a very dark and elegant tartan. Note that the pictures on the SRT and STA do not show it as dark as it is in real life.

I'm pretty sure it is only woven by the House of Edgar and sold through The Kilt Centre at ...

    in their "own exclusive range".

Black Isle, Black Shadow, Douglas Grey, Hamilton Grey, a non-standard Macmillan all come to mind as either being predominantly black or having black dominant stripes.

If you're just looking for ideas and samples of what black based tartans can look like (as opposed to looking for one that you'd like to wear), my fancy tartan comes to mind (called "Ryan Ross", as I'm not very creative).

Here's a pic from the New House Highland site:

EDIT: If for whatever reason you'd like to wear this one, please be my guest. lol

The Renwick tartan is very much a black pattern, as seen here:
