Tartan Weaving in the Pacific NW?

After a brief discussion with Downix about tartan weaving on the local level, I thought I might ask a question / propose an idea to the rabble that reside in the Pacific NW (most specifically Washington State & British Columbia).

A little while back I found a website for The Tartan Lady Weaving Studio on Denman Island, British Columbia, that offers a weaving course by a lady with 30 years experience in the field of loom weaving.

Though her website hasn't been updated in a while, and in fact still has a notice that reads "Weaving instructions and orders are temporarily suspended, but will resume on Denman Island in the year 2009", I thought if there was enough interest amongst the rabble in the region, that perhaps we could persuade her to set up a course on tartan weaving.

    So, is anyone else interested?

Just remembered I still had correspondence with the Tartan Lady from back in April of 2008, in which I asked her about future weaving classes.

    Her reply at that time:

    Hello Terry

I apologize for taking this long to reply; we are currently planting a vineyard. We do not yet have our addition finished, so I expect it will be late fall or next spring before I will be set up again. I am looking forward to that time.

    Cheers
    Pat

I need to touch bases with her again.

Hmmm...wandering off topic but "planting a vineyard"?

Once again, those Pacific Northwest wines that never make it to the shops in Chicago because they're so good that they keep 'em up there and won't share!

I guess I'm just going to have to come up there with a couple of empty suitcases...

    Carry on...

Any word? I've got tired of waiting, so picked up some wool to weave a small Stewart of Appin shawl.

Sorry, I got side tracked with other issues at home & dropped the ball

I will try to touch bases with her this week.

    Thanks for the reminder!

I also am building myself my own loom. Studying the various loom designs, I saw how each was limited by ideas centuries old. So, made my own, using my own process.
