If the colors in a Tartan are "supposedly" sometimes meant to represent things about what it stands for.....I can't think of anything about the ocean that is yellow and my mind keeps thinking "Yellow for cowards" all the people that ran for the boats first!

The OP said it is based on material from a deck chair.

The information held within The Scottish Register of Tartans for the "Titanic" tartan is shown below.

    STA ref:6643
    STWR ref:none
    Designer:Not Specified
    Tartan date:01/01/1999
Registration date:This tartan was recorded prior to the launch of The Scottish Register of Tartans.
    Category:Commemorative
    Restrictions:
Registration notes:Seen (probably by Dr Phil Smith) at 'Convergance - Atlanta' in 1999. 'Convergance - Atlanta' was the great bi-annual handweavers' convention held in various cities. This was supposedly reconstructed from a fragment and photo of a deck chair on the SS Titanic.

You almost need to have your eyes go "out of focus" to see the larger square pattern. Too busy for me.

Interesting. If the source was from the real ship, what's the chance it was an already-named pattern?

At any rate, I wouldn't wear it as a kilt...it looks too much like a couch.

    Or a deck chair.

I can certainly see it being used similar to it's original intent, though.

Depending on the sett size, I could see it making a nice kilt. But judging by the images posted, it looks like the sett size is pretty small (like you'd see on upholstery, of course).
