This a a heraldry forum, not a genealogy forum

I would like to know why genealogical topics are discussed in a herladry forum. While heraldry and genealogy overlap, the "Gentle Science" of heraldry is something different. A Heraldry Forum should discuss heraldry: ensigns armorial, clan badges, use of heraldry in Highland attire, etc.

I am a great lover of genealogy. If it is felt that there is a need to discuss genealogy in a kilt forum, then why not have a sub-forum dedicated specifically to genealogy, just like there is one for heraldry?

I've been wondering the same thing; perhaps it's just the closest fit in the absence of a true "genealogy" forum or subforum. Given the interest in genealogy around here (including my own), perhaps a separate genealogy forum would be a good idea. (Steve?)

I cannot agree more. We already have 'The Clans' forum, wouldn't genealogy be better suited there?

    Regards

A sub-forum in the Clans section perhaps?

Otherwise I'm afraid that the Clans forum would become a tangled mish-mash of discussion about clans, their history, etc; & genealogical queries

We now have a dedicated Genealogy forum.

Thank you for bringing it up.

At the moment I am just grateful that Heraldry has finally been split away from Tartans.
