    Gordon dress tartan

I had a Great-Grandmother who was a Gordon. I spent a lot of time with her, so in honor of her I was looking to get a Gordon tartan kilt. Is the dress Gordon with the white another highland dance tartan or is it a dress version of the normal Gordon tartan?

The answer to your question is "yes".
Dress Gordon is a pretty tartan, and sometimes you can find shirts and stuff made from it in department stores.
Turpin has a kilt made in the red Gordon tartan which is really smashing. Maybe he'll post a picture of it.

I actually found pajama pants in Dress Gordon at Wal-Mart. I decided to go back and get them, but they were gone. I have to admit I was kind of bummed.

Dress gordon is a popular rental tartan in the NE of Scotland (Its home turf), it's dressier than the regular gordon tartan
Note to self: Must remember the pleaty bit goes at the back...

    Re: Gordon dress tartan

My first piece of scottish kit was a wool knit tam in dress Gordon that I bought in training about 28 years ago, and still have and occasionally wear, but not with the kilt. It is a lovely tartan, but I have not real association to it so personally would not desire a kilt in it.

If you're thinking of getting a Gordon, it is an excellent opportunity to go for regimental weight (18oz) from House of Edgar. It not the "dress" but it's heavy. http://www.houseofedgar.com/acatalog/Tartans1.html

Also Clan Donald with a strong House of Gordon line. Have four Gordon tartan kilts, the Modern, weathered, red Gordon and the dress Gordon.

Its not a girlie girl tartan. Don't sweat that.

Here's pics of my dress Gordon. Its a semi-trad in PV from USA Kilts.

I have got to save up the money to order from Rocky one day. I've never seen anything bad come from USAkilts. I've ordered sporrans and stuff from them, and been very happy. I have to take the kilt plunge soon.
