    McFall/McFaul

    Hello,
My great grandmother on my father's side was a McFall. Her grandfather came from Northern Ireland and I assume he was an Ulster Scot. In doing clan searches I've found three different Scottish clans that McFall may be associated with. MacPherson, MacIntyre, and MacPhail. The various clan finder engines never give any sources for the connections. Are these all correct? Are none of them? Is this a case of different branches of the McFall family associating themselves with different clans?
    Thanks,
    Remy

    Hi Remy,

Spelling is an Adventure - not a Science!

I have MacFal, Macfail, MacFall, MacFaul and MacFaull, also Makfaill and Makfale all as septs of, or associated with, Clans Cameron, Chatton and MacKay.

    The same with Fail.

But I have MacFall also as a sept of, or associated with Clan MacPherson.

Also Fall as a sept of, or associated with, Clan Chatton

But McFall as a sept of, or associated with Clan Mackintosh

I have no record of an association with Clans MacIntyre or MacPhail.

    Regards

    Chas
