I actually understood all of that! Yay for my mediocre very very beginners level Gaelic!

and awesome picture! Congrats to your boy and to the school! It's only 20 pounds for 10 weeks of class? That's not a bad price at all!

Thanks to all for the good wishes for our wee unit, our council have just issued their press release here.
If anyone would like to see the Gaelic children's homework site, it's here.

Do you and wife speak Gaelic at home to the kids? I have been reading about how much this helps reinforce the teachers work at school.

Me and the Mrs are at present trying to move to Glenurquhart, this is great, well done. I was looking at the Gaelic in the Glen Classes, hoping to join in when we eventually get there.

We speak some Gaelic at home, my wife much more than I do. My son is helping with my Gaelic and we'll often go through his homework together.
Interestingly the Gaelic medium education doesn't seem to have effected his English reading and writing at all compared to the kids that are in the non-Gaelic part of the school.

His English skills will probably improve as he studies Gaelic. I've noticed that effect with my students, although they take French, Spanish and German.

I seem to recall there being studies that show those that study a 2nd language (regardless what it is) do better with their primary language, the theory being that learning a 2nd language helps understand the structure of language better.
