    Argentina

I was looking through BBC for info on a project and came across this.

Check out some of the pics! Especially the fourth and ninth!

We have a fair contingent of Macmillans in Argentina, many of whom have been there since the 1880s, mostly in the Buenos Aires area. During the first Falklands War back in the 1980s, there was a strong anti-British backlash directed at the established British community.

Very interesting. We don't often think of the British immigrants to Latin America. They are there in great numbers.

We have many Buchanan Clan members in Argentina as well. Many of the Scots there celebrate with a tartan day parade every year but speak absolutely no English.

Look at Scottish guys wearing kilts - you could look at them and laugh, but the way they carry themselves, how can you? If you believe in it, that's what makes it cool.Andre Benjamin - American Rapper (formerly known as Dre) Songwriter and Musician

They're very prominent down there. Especially in the Patagonia area. I know Chile has a pipe band and a St. Andrews Society.

I saw an Cuban Bagpipe group at Celtic Colors in Cape Breton a few years ago. They were great..... and sooo enthusiastic! Seems it took years to get the OK from their country. Pipes are all over the world.

What a small world! The dance troupe I perform with went to Cuba last spring did a number with that pipe band at a local venue. One of their pipers then tagged along for the week and helped out at other performances that the girls did.
