The 2008 Richmond Highland Games and Celtic Festival is scheduled for
25-26 October! See you all there!!! Can't wait to see the Parade of the Clans, the Games, and let's not forget the single malt tastings!!
If I'm not at the Buchanan tent, I'll be walking about wearing my tartan!

You duck out for a few months and you miss other Virginian X-Markers!
I always liked the Richmond Games. Don't forget the Williamsburg Scottish Festival though! It will be out in Lanexa this year making it maybe 15-20 mins closer to you than the last location.

I will definitely be there on both days, I'll try and stop by the tent to say "hello"

I will definitely be there both days. The motorcycle club I'm in (Celtic Riders East Coast MC) is riding in and camping out for the weekend.
Still haven't figured the riding in a kilt thing, so I suspect it'll stay rolled up until we get there.

It looks like there will be a fairly large contingent of forum members attending this year, so maybe we should pick a time and place to meet at the festival, so that we aren't all walking around the grounds looking for each other. The Richmond festival grounds are a big area, and there are usually from 50,000 to 100,000 attending over the weekend if the weather is nice. I also just suggested in the DEC Richmond Kilt night thread that maybe we could set up a kilt night during the games. This would be more practical for those who are coming to Richmond from out of the immediate area. Hopefully one of our Richmond members could organize something or suggest a place. I would try, but although I am close to Richmond, I'm a country guy and don't know a lot about Richmond. I try to stay away from the cities except for things like the games.

I would certainly be more than happy to see if I can set something up with one of the local pubs for Friday or Saturday night, the 25th or the 26th. Although I have not been to them, there are quite a few in the downtown area. Let's get a count of how many may attend and I'll contact a couple of the pub's proprietors and see what I can arrange.

I found a couple pics though from last year:
You get thirsty after a full set. Note the traditional hunting tartan of Clan Black.
Pipers at the close of games. Not sure of the tartans though...
