    2009 Stone Mountain Highland Games

I haven't seen a thread for this yet and its only a month away. My wife and I will be there hosting a tent for Clan Barclay. This will be our first time there as both visitors and tent convenors. I know that we have several xmarkers who attend and work these games, so go ahead let it be known if you will be there. We are traveling with one of the dogs so I will be staying in a pet friendly hotel about 25 miles from Stone Mountain. I wish I could camp there, but I don't think I could with the dog.

All I've heard since I've been involved in Highland Games is that I must go to Stone Mountain. So finally I'm getting a chance to go. What should I expect as a tent convenor there?

I'll see you there. I usually make it down for at least one day. If the weather is nice (which in October it usually is great) it will be great with a lot of crowds. If the weather is not nice, it will be the same only wetter

Try to make some time to take a hike around the mountain on the Cherokee Trail. It's a nice 6 mile stroll and it gets you off the roads and away from the crowds.

I can't say what to expect as a convenor, but you can expect to see the Mrs. and me at your tent. And if a certain other member of your clan is there, he'd better keep his paws off of you-know-what.

That sounds nice, but I doubt I will have the time. Maybe if we come down for just a visit.

I'm looking at maps of the park. Where in the park are the games held?

As a tent convener you should get a parking pass for close-in parking, and you can drive to your tent site to drop off the set-up materials, but have to be off the field by 0900.

We usually meet up at the Lamont tent, but theScot and Southern Scot have been pretty quiet lately so I don't know if that is still on. I will offer the Gordon Tent as an alternative, and announce a time for a meet-up each day after I get a program - I don't want to conflict with any major elements of the days, like massed bands or parade of tartans.

I'll be there from start ta finish. It will be me first time at Stone Mountain and I don't want ta miss any of it. I don't have hotel reservations yet, I'll have ta get on the stick and get that done soon. I'd love ta bring me dogs too, but If I brought one I'd have ta bring all nine{9}, and that's a bit much ta handle in the crowds!
Looking forwards ta seeing all me XMark friends there, New and Old!
