    Bellingham Games, June 07th & 08th 2008

I'm pleased to announce that word has just come over the wire that after a years absence from it's original location that the BELLINGHAM HIGHLAND GAMES will be returning "home" this year to beautiful Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale Washington!

The games will be held Saturday / Sunday on June 07th & 08th, with a "Calling of the Clans /Flaming Saltire" and Ceilidh/Talent Show on Friday evening June 06th.

The website for the games is:

This site holds many fond memories for me. Not only is it where for many years the Bellingham Highland Games has been held, but is the location for an annual Civil War reenactment & encampment my old (now defunct) unit use to participate in, and is also the location where my wife & I were married in an 1860s styled ceremony back in July of 1996!

Hope to see many of you there. Stop by the Clan Mackay booth I'll be hosting (& hopefully sporting my Newsome made box pleat in Modern Mackay by then too! ) & say hi!

I had planned on taking public transit to the border, and getting a lift from a friend on the other side, but if anyone else is going from Vancouver and can spare some car space...

When I retire in another generation or three, I'm going to buy a mobile home and travel around to all these games that I've never made it to before.

    Update: Sad News

    Dear Rabble,

I regret to inform you that due to missing alot of work recently (because of a lower back & hip injury) & work related scheduling conflicts, the security business I work for will not give me the weekend off for the games.

I apologize to those who are planning to attend the games and expecting to see a Mackay booth there, as it has been since 2003.

I'm upset by this turn of events, and it's just one more reason why I need to find another line of work!

    My best wishes to all.
