Glengarry Highland Games

One of North America's largest will be happening this weekend. August 3rd and 4th. Over 60 pipe bands will be in attendance.

Well, that was a fun day!

I went with my sister on Saturday - our first highland games. I'll definitely be going next year. Wandered about the tents for a while, just to poke around. Picked myself up a little pewter quaich as a keepsake. Stopped in at the R-Kilts tent and had a nice little chat with Robert (we found that penny whistle, by the way. The Scottish and Irish store can apparently order them in - thanks!).

The games themselves were great fun, especially the caber toss. Though, for me, I have to say the best part was the massed bands. Spectacular.

Basically, the most fun I've had in a long while. Pics soon, if anyone wants to see them.

Yes it was a great time, I met a number of xmarkers...Sheep in Wolf's Clothing, Lee, Casey, another one from the Ottawa area STC? and of course the Supreme Canuck.
I was kept very busy. My parents dropped by from Manitoulin Island, complete surprise and I made them work.
Thanks to all who stopped by the booth.
Next is Fergus another long weekend...

Wow I had a blast!
I have been to the Games in Maxville before, but this year was great. I ran the MacArthur table and met a lot of nice people. I got to take a short walk around to take a few picture. Hopefully I will get them up in a few days.
I met my first X-Marker!! Canuck (Robert of RKilts) it was lovely to meet you.
I can't wait till next year,

I was there, but was not a member of this community at the time. Actually had my RKilt ordered while I was there. It was great great fun. I'm there every year. My grandmother and uncle live in Maxville, and she hosts the huge clan reunion at her house every year.
