Kirkin O' the Tartan - Kansas City

Ok, Kirkin O' the Tartan in Kansas City.
It was held at the Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, and Episcopal church. The parish hall was erected in 1890. The style of the building is transitional Norman, with solid stone walls inside and out.
Here is the view from the second row:

The service started with a solo piper. He is shown here leaving thru the garden door:

Got a little glare from the outside. He was he going into the light.

    more to come.

There with you in spirit, ChattanCat, as we celebrated with Spartan at All Saints here in Phoenix today. I hope someone kept the piper from going all the way into the light.

I saw the outside of the Cathedral on my recent trip to Kansas City. Too bad I wasn't there for the Kirkin. It would have been great to attend.

I know the Cathedral quite well -- I would love to participate in a Kirkin' there someday. I seem to remember that St. Andrew's on Wornall Road used to hold a Kirkin' as well.

My favourite parish in KC has to be St. Mary's, though -- if nothing else for the ghost story associated with it!

I was supposed to go to a Kirkin' this evening in Lebanon, Missouri, but my wee one came down with a nasty case of the croup this morning.

The church and the St. Andrews band have been celebrating the Kirkin' O' the Tartan for 30 years. That to me is an amazing history.

I remember that cathedral well from several years as a member of the EYC in Wichita. Would have been nice to be there for that service.

YOU would choose St. Mary's! Great place.

ChattanCat: I recall that Earl Cavanaugh was the Dean there. I knew him through the North American Deans' Conference, when I was Dean of Gethsemane Cathedral, Fargo.
