Talking I'll be there

Driving up that Thursday with Taggart Pipes. We've got a place across the street from the entrance to the site. I'll be there for all three days.
Going to the Whiskey Tasting at 1pm on Friday and Albannach and the GlenGharry Bhoys & Prydien....and of course i'll be hunting for Guiness and Haggis!

We are staying at the Village of Loon, right across the street as well. Will be there all three days also.

We opted for the noon on Sat. Whiskey tasting.

We do plan on being there all three days (condo rented and tickets in hand) but to what extent is still unknown.

Wife fractured ankle and heading for surgery tomorrow. It happened just before the Maine Highland Games and we were forced to miss that!

As it gets closer, look here and at the New England Kilted so we can plan some times to meet up!!!

Thinking about heading up -- w. questions

I used to head up to Loon Mountain on occasion back in "old days," but my wife and I attended more regularly after they moved the games down to the state fairgrounds. (It helped that we were able to stay with friends living in the area.) Since the games have re-relocated to Loon, we haven't been back. Loon is definitely a more picturesque location, but not quite as convenient for us.

Anyhow, I'm thinking we might try to head up for at least one day, but had a couple of questions for some of the regular attendees among us:

What's the general take on the "Tartan Dinner and Dance" on Friday evening? What sort of program is typically on offer? (I gather the ubiquitous Brigadoons and special guests St. Thomas Pipe Band will perform.)

Is there any prayer of finding a place to stay at this late date? Making a day trip of it wasn't too big of a deal, but if we stick around for evening events I'm not especially looking forward to driving back in the middle of the night.

The NH Highland games were only at the fairground in Hopkinton NH for 3 years, and one of those years it was torrential downpours >_< of the 33 years of the NH games 30 have been at Loon, and almost universally it's said Loon is better, the area is just gorgeous =)

I'm pretty sure the lafayette campground will still have spots for that weekend since the highland games are after the summer camping season.
