St. Patrick and green day
Tomorrow at my school--Killarney Secondary-- we celebrate St. Patrick's Day by wearing green. (We will be on spring break on the 17th) I will wear my Hunting Mackinnon with my forest Jacobite shirt and hose. What will you all be doing to celebrate with our cousins across the water?

Pub session. Good music is the best way. Oh, and avoiding green beer at all costs. The march of the Plastic Paddys will be an obstacle.

St. Patrick's Day Mass!

In my 27 years of professional drinking I've never had a green beer perhaps this year... Having being raised in England at the start of the "Troubles" I think this year I will raise a glass to the advances made a continued hope for peace and dialogue.

I wish my church was celebrating the liturgy that day, but since we're not, and since our priest, who is of Irish ancestry, has given us permission to break the Lenten fast for St. Patrick's, I'll be wearing my Irish Rugby track jacket and green braces, and I'll be heading out to a bar where my brother's band is playing.
Now, the only decision I have to make is... Guinness or Irish whiskey? Or perhaps Car Bombs?
One thing is certain... NO GREEN BEER

Gratefully, the only places in Memphis you can order green beer, are the beer joints that have a very limited selection. They don't even qualify as pubs.
The pubs that hire us to perform openly promote their sales of Guinness, Harp, Murphy's, Smithwick's, etc and have plenty of patrons. Pub owners have told me multiple times that green beer stains wooden floors and is difficult to remove.
Besides, only certified numpties wanna drink Bud Lite containing FD&C Green No. 3. Bleecchh!
Slainte yall,

In all likelihood, it will be a quiet night at home with some good beer & "The Quiet Man" & "Boondock Saints". Going to try to find out if the local pipe band will be playing anywhere.

The pub with music tonight.
Tomorrow (Sat), I am going to a German restaurant celebreating St. Paddy's Day with a friend, and we'll be kilted and eating bangers and mash . . .or something appropriate. (No green beer.)
Finally, Monday will be the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Conyers, Georgia. It is only 2 separate 1/2 blocks long, and everyone who shows up is in the parade. it's a typical, hokey, small town parade, and it'll be fun. Anyone kilted will be moved to the front of the parade, and we usually have at least one piper. Then we all spend the rest of the evening hanging out, sampling the local "waters," and there'll be a street band if the weather cooperates. It is a lot of fun.
And next year, I'll be wearing a safron kilt if I can get one.

I have nothing planned for this weekend, however, a handful of us kilties up here in Fort Collins will be stepping out on Monday for the "Reinforcing O' the Stereotypes". I plan on a pair of huge scary black leather boots, SWK Saffron, black t-shirt, black leather Motorcycle jacket, and SWK Saffron Fly Plaid.
