    1943 Vintage Kilt

I was surprised to encounter this pair of Black Watch soldiers at Andrews House station on the Tanfield Railway in the north of England on Saturday. It turned out they were re-enactors from the Northern WW2 Association

The older fellow closest to the camera was wearing an 8-yard heavyweight which he told me had been made in 1943, while the younger chap further away appears to be wearing a modern lightweight.

Really cool photo. It really shows the kilt in its practical and historical use.
