| | | Arizona Tartan pics
It's taken me a few weeks to get some pics of my latest kilt, but I've finally got some to share.
Matt Newsome made this 16-oz box-pleat kilt with the official state tartan of Arizona (which had to be woven for the order).
While the black leather accessories go okay with this kilt, I really think it needs brown leather, so I have a new sporran, sporran belt & kilt belt all in matching brown leather on order from the Leather Sporran company in Scotland. When those arrive I'll post a photo or two with the new sporran & belt.
These 2 pics are a front view & me joining "the cast"
Here we have back & side views of the box pleats
Me "sporting" a Hamish pose & my "Backfield In Motion"
Upon this rock...
Looking "sharp!" |

That is one cool tartan! I do agree that the brown would just look great with it. Enjoy your new kilt.

Nice tartan, great kilt. Nice shiny pelt, too. I'm envious.
The brown gear will also look good, but I think your black gear would work better for dress casual (as I see you dressed for these pictures) if you used hose that wasn't pure white (a bit too formal for the setting and shirt).
All in all, once your brown gear arrives, worn correctly, you'll have more choices for either dress, day wear casual or dress casual wear with that kilt. I guess you could also wear that kilt pure casual, but I think it would overwhelm.
Regards,
Scott Gilmore

That is a beautiful tartan Red,
Danged if I can get it related to Arizona though...I "know" brown deserts and green trees...but hey, Arizona to me is the flag colors...or more redrock colors.
Had visions, before opening the thread, of blue and copper and red and gold....
Gonna take a while to wrap my mind around that being an Arizona tartan...that its so sharp looking should help.
Maybe a copper belt buckle with the brown leather...
Or a rattlesnake skin sporran...
Ron

very cool, Is there more than one AZ tartan? Of course I might have looked at a weathered or ancient color scheme. That one does match the photo environment perfectly. O'Neille

Sharp tartan, sharp kilt and great photo's RR. Yes, the brown would probably work better than black. Post those pics when you get them |

Very sharp tartan - and Matt's work looks great!
I agree with Mr. Gilmore's take on the socks - the white is a bit much for my tastes, but it still works.
Anxious to see the brown leathers...
