    I wish I had known you were in our area we could have met up I live 200 yds from the old castle in the first photo .We have always known it as Ravenscraig castle Corsehill castle was on the other side of the railway ,it is good to see photos of places so close to home ! thank you for posting them

    Yes, I also saw it referred to as Ravenscraig on one web site.
    It is suggested on Wiki that Ravenscraig or Ruincrag was the older Corsehill Castle, though there is now less trace of the later Corsehill Castle which was nearby. I couldn't find anything of the other castle during my visit - are the foundations still visible?

    The building in the centre of Kilmaurs is known as the Jougs because of the iron collar fixed to the wall where people who had commited a crime were made to stand with the coller or jougs round their neck I have tried to post a photo but having never done this before it may not work
