A Difficult Choice For Sure

I'm gonna go with this one.

Its my second Kathy Lare handsewn kilt. Was kilt #809 for her sewn up in September 2005. Tatan is the pre-Culloden Macdonald of Kingsburgh 16 ounce from D.C. Dalgliesh Mills.

I like the photo for many reasons. The tartan is pre-Culloden authentic. The tartan is from the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye where my great grandfathers lived. The wind is teasing the pleats of the kilt quite beautifully I think. I like how the photo captures the colors of the House Rock Valley below and the Vermillion Cliffs in the distance. I like the lines and composition of the photo (taken by my lady who takes "pictures" for a living as a radiology dept manager).

The picture was snapped at a roadside viewpoint we stopped at on the way home from a day trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Ironic that this one pic came out better than all the Grand Canyon pics.

I picked this one for several reasons. First, it was taken at beautiful Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca, NY. Second, it was taken just prior to the wedding of a dear friend who chose the outdoor location for his wedding. Thirdly, this pic shows off my favorite sporran and belt. Lastly, I think this picture is is a great representation of "me" because I'm on the casual side, I'm in the woods, looking at my lovely wife and enjoying life.

Kilt is 4yd. box pleat by Matt Newsome in the ancient hunting Rose tartan.

I have a lot of kilted photos I like, but this is by far my favorite:

I have this one printed in an 8" x 10", framed on the mantle in our living room.

It was taken Sept 2004, at the wedding of my brother-in-law to his lovely bride. My wife (pictured) was one of the bride's maids.

I remember when we drove down to Atlanta for the wedding, I had packed both kilt and pants. I asked my brother-in-law the evening before if he'd like me to wear the kilt or not. (It wasn't a Scottish wedding, and I didn't want to steal attention away from their day). He immediately said that he would consider it a huge honor if I wore my kilt.

Being the only one kilted there, I did get some attention, but of course the day was about the bride and groom. During the wedding, I spent most of the time in the back of the church with my son, who was at the time 6 months old. My daughter was a flower girl, so both she and my wife were in the wedding party.

Afterwards, at the reception, I did get a lot of good comments about the kilt. This is the same kilt that I wore in my own wedding, so it was special to also be able to wear it to celebrate the wedding of two other lovely people.

Why is it my favorite pic? Well, it has my favorite person in it (and no, I'm not talking about myself!). And I think the composition is particularly lovely with the colors both in our outfits and the background.

This is my wife and I at our 20th anniversary dinner. The kilt is New Caledonian hand stiched by Strathmore. I do like the photo other than the fact that it wouldn't have hurt me to smile.

P.S. Everyone's pictures look great so far! Thanks for sharing some good stuff!

This is my favorite to date because it was my first kilted pic with my son. He's dead set on wearing it every chance he gets. If he would stop eating me out of house and home and slow his growth rate, he'd have others.
