    Brother in Iraq with Bagpipes

Here is a picture of my brother in Iraq with his bagpipes and the ACU cover I made for him. He also has a "BAGPIPE" tab that he wears either on over his unit patch, or on the front of his body armor.

I'm also working on modern 79th New York gear for him. Picture a 79th jacket in ACU material with subdued colors...grey cuffs, zipper with Velcro, arm pockets, back buttons, inverness flaps ect.

I'm almost finish with the modern 79th NY glengarry with the same shape, lining, dicing but subdued red white and blue to black, grey, and tan with the last three columns of the true red white and blue. Fun fun!

Now all he needs is an ACU Digital Camo Kilt. I have some fabric if you need it.

Great job, Rachel. I was thinking the same thing concerning a kilt. It bring to mind 1st Sgt. Dwayne Farr.

I moved the thread to the "Show us your Pics" forum, as it really has nothing to do with General Kilt Talk.

Glad to see a fellow piper where it really matters. He will make an impression on his fellow soldiers that will not be forgotten. That's to be proud of in addition to all the other reasons to be proud of him!

On put the proper Velcro on the side of the cover where he has his name tape, unit patch, rank, and blood type. (All Velcro patches)

Im putting the Velcro on the glengarry and jacket too so we can put his unit patch for his "hackle"

I am making a ACU ripstop kilt modeled after the 79th New York kilt, competele with Velcro on the lower right front apron for his unit patch. Its nice to have a sister that sews sometimes

All in all hes doing well! Hes with the 4th ID in the 1/10 Cav out of Colorado. His wife gave birth to their 2nd child on the 18 of this month which he was able to be there because of leave. But unfortunately, he had to return to Iraq on Christmas eve.

Here are some pictures of his leave here at home and exploits with piping and Iraq and such.

Charlie's last even before going to Iraq (July 4th 2008)

At Fort Carson preparing for Iraq

Charlies party before Iraq (Death before Dismount! hehe)

In Iraq with the New "Combat shirt"

At the hospital about to catch his son on the 18th

    His new baby boy!

Being a hardcore Scottish American soldier!

Ah anywho. I got into proud sister mode! He has going through a rough time recently missing his new family, his wife and feeling like no one cares. Its really nice to hear that people still support soldiers and families.
