    Buckingham Palace Garden Party

I was very honoured to be invited to the Garden Party, we were not allowed cameras inside the Palace, but I managed to get a friend to take a few photos before we went in.
It was a lovely day, a very special day.
I'm not sure how many people were there, I've been told over 5000, but I only saw about a dozen kilts in total, of course that made it all a bit more exclusive!!
The catering was great. lots of interesting "tea time" pieces, and no problems with service.... and I did go back a few times.... after all I'm not sure I'll ever get a second chance!!

Looks good. I think I have the same jacket - is it a Lochcarron Charcoal argyll?

Excellent, nice to don one's finery to go meet the royals!
Ann and I were invited to one of Prince Charles' garden parties at Holyrood House, a few years back and most of the men wore kilts, though surprisingly not the Prince on that day.
after all I'm not sure I'll ever get a second
They say that if you should ever receive a second invite to a royal garden party it is etiquette to decline the invitation as the objective of these events is for the royals to meet as many of their subjects as possible rather than repeatedly meeting the same subjects.

Wow, what a great honor! It sounds like a grand time.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Wonderful photos Paul you both look smashing, it must have been quite a treat and I'm sure it was a day full of memories you will treasure.

The fellow next to you... is he a Drummond or a Grant; that is, is he wearing the tartan as a Drummond or Grant tartan (since they share that same tartan)? I have a kilt in the same tartan from the House of Edgar.
