I do think however, that someone should have a discreet word in the ear of the Earl of Caithness's valet!

As a matter of a fact, whilst to many, the Earl's outfit may seem rather loud, it is fairly normal for Highland formal(it seems to be seen more on the very west and the very north of the highlands) attire and I am not in the least surprised.
