Thumbs up Burns Supper in Conyer, GA

I'm a bit late getting these posted from last evening, but here they are at last. We really had a great time, and this is one of the best groups with whom to spend an evening.

(We only stole a few cattle.)

Lynn (Ms. Thescot) and Cavscout with the Bard

the wee lassies

Turpin and charming daughter, Hailey

And yet, a few more--just for fun:

The honored guest's sonsie face

Turpin attacks, uh, addresses the haggis--and does a darn fine job, I must say.

Turpin's passion is a thing of legend.

And just for grins:

the kilted rabble, off to reive His Lordship's cattle:

The entire group:

Jim (Thescot) delivers the Immortal Memory

Jay (Parthian MacGregor) toasts the lassies in fine fashion

And Lisa (Ms. Parthian) responds with good form

Gilmore reads a poem

The only damper on the evening was the band's loudness which started before we were through the program. We had to jump in during the break to try and finish, and we just didn't get to read enough poetry. So I leave it at this for tonight:

Then let us pray that come it may
(As come it will for a' that)
That Sense and Worth o'er a' the earth
Shall bear the gree an' a' that!
For a' that, an' a' that,
It's comin yet for a' that,
That man to man the world o'er
Shall brithers be for a' that.

Haley and I had a marvelous time. Jim Killman really knows how to put on the dog, and makes a very tasty, and very LARGE, haggis. It came out piping hot, and the dews were truly distilling though its pores. Unlike some dinners I've seen, this was the main course. More than the assmbled group could finish, so Jim offered it up to the rest of the Celtic Tavern's patrons.
