    Death of a Celtic Warrior

The Wake Forest University community lost one of our own today. Skip Prosser, our head basketball coach died of a heart attack at age 56. Skip was a great lover of all things Celtic (I believe Prosser is a Welsh name) and I was privileged to meet him at the Celtic Music Festival in Winston-Salem where I had this photo taken in 2002. (I'm wearing a kilt, you just can't see it so I guess this qualifies as a kilt pic.) Skip was the only coach to ever lead three separate teams to NCAA berths in his first season, won an ACC Regular Season Championship and had also been ACC Coach of the Year. Skip's lifetime record was 291-146. He was known for his wit, his forthrightness, his passion for the game and his love for his players. We mourn his loss and extend our sympathies to his family.

As a former Triangle area resident, I really feel for that loss.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

I will be remembering his family in my thoughts and prayers.

This is really quite a blow to the school as well.
They seem to really fit together and he was well thought of in the
    ACC.

There was a bit in today's paper. Skip said everyone always thought he was Irish because of his red hair. He said he liked to go over there and he liked their music but he was English, Scottish and Welsh. He was just a great guy. Tough day on Tobacco Road.

Skip was a great coach. He coached Xavier (UC's cross-town rival) for 7 years (UC's main rival).

He is greatly respected in Cincinnati.
