Excellent pics, though it would be helpful if you would name some of the locations.
My initial impression of the first pic was eastern end of Loch Laggan, but a closer inspection suggests it is not.
Looks like you encountered a very tame stag (or had a powerful zoom lens)
After a very cold April and a very wet May, June, July and early August, we seem to have enjoyed a generally pleasant spell of weather since 20th August, though the nights are now becoming colder - we had a touch of grass frost up here last night.

Green or no, these are wonderful shots Jock, now that you have the hang of it does this mean we will see more from you?

It does not always rain in Scotland.

    To answer Cessna's thoughts first.

There are times when I will be a wee tad selfish in keeping place names to myself.Whilst we all have a "right to roam" in Scotland there are times when I wish people would roam elswhere! If people (and they do)find these places, mostly they are very welcome, but at certain times of the year they are not.

The camera is only a wee pocket Nikon.I have spent most of my life creeping up on deer so it was not too much of a problem getting close(60/70yards) to the wee staggie.

Robertson. The green comes back at the end of May.We have over 200 inches of rain which combines with strong winds and frosts so it bleaches the vegitation.I think I am right in saying that we are nearer the Arctic circle here than we are to London, so think Tundra.

More photos? If you want them? Then of course.

Note that the photos were taken last April. That explains the lack of green. When my wife and I were travelling the Inner Hebrides and Highlands on our honeymoon it was during March, and the landscapes were mainly brown and yellow (though no less beautiful). Except, of course, for when they were white! (It snowed our last two days there).

PS - I do seem to remember more green around the border regions than in the Highlands that time of year.
