Dumfries - Burns Supper at the Globe Inn

A day out in Dumfries.

Lady Devorgilla's bridge over the River Nith was built in 1425.

Robert Burns Mausoleum contains Burns' grave.

A visit to the Tam o'Shanter pub where Craig who sometimes joins the Dumfries kilted rabble on our kilted pub crawls is now the landlord along with his partner Susie.

Ferintosh Guest House with xmarks member Pour1Malt.
There are still a few places available for the Ferintosh Burns Supper weekends in March which will include a kilted pub crawl on the Friday night and Burns Supper in the Globe on the Saturday night.

and so to the four hundred year old Globe Inn, where Burns was a regular in the last eight years of his life.

A tall Bavarian lass in The Globe.
More to follow.

The Snug Bar would have been the Tack Room in Burns' day.

Our top table hosts, Jane Brown, Landlady o' The Globe and Les Byers, Curator of the Burns Museum at Ellisland Farm.

Cock a leekie soup, followed by this generous portion of haggis neeps and tatties topped with cheese and parsley, then an oatcake and cheese board, coffee and shortbread.

Comfort break

Entertainers

The Immortal Memory, amusingly performed by Jane Brown from the perspective of Jean Armour.

Holy Willie's Prayer by Les Byers.

Toast to the Lassies by Les Byers.
In case you are wondering why there is no photo of the Piping In of the Haggis, this was because it was recorded by BBC television and will be shown on BBC 1 Breakfast Show on Robert Burns Day, Wednesday 25th January.
That's all folks.
