Eisenhower Jacket

I may be bombarded with hate mail for this but it is not as if I am comparing the old Woodland Camouflage field Jacket to the Eisenhower Jacket.

I really think that the Eisenhower Jacket would look great when you wear your kilt in a casual to semi-formal setting, of course one would have to de-militarize the jacket by removing rank etc..., so as not to downgrade the importance of a great American General. I feel that the Eisenhower Jacket is a variant to the Price Charlie Jacket minus the fancy buttons.

I don't know if I would compare it to a Prince Charlie...J. Charles "Scotty" Thompson* recommended using an Ike jacket or the British battledress for day attire, but it's really not appropriate, INMHO, for formal attire.

*author of So your're going to wear the kilt.

Todd

The IKE jacket looks really good with a kilt. It is not greatly different from some other military jackets worn with kilts.

You can buy many types of Ike jackets around, and few things look nicer with a kilt. I bought a Sweedish model in blue from Sportsman's Guide on the 'net, but when it came in, it was much too small for me. I gave it to a buddy who wore it to our Burns Supper last year (and a few other places) with a plain black tie, and it looked really good.

You can even buy a replica of the officer's WWII verson at What Price Glory for about 175 bucks or so, and it looks great. Shop around on the 'net, and you'll find several places that sell some form of them. Just follow the rule of thumb of ordering a larger size over the 'net.

When I march in parades with the Fire Department, they all have long jackets on, but I have a special Eisenhower jacket for my kilt.

I really like the proportions of that jacket and think it would look great with a kilt. My ex had a cropped pea coat jacket in navy blue wool that looked really sharp - similar shape - wish I had one.

Regards,
Rex.

Check this one out: http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=137&bc=no

And then there's this one if you don't like the army look: http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=137&bc=no

Personally, I think they look as good as just about anything you can wear with a kilt.
