Glaztattoo, Thanks for posting the pictures. I didn't have time to go through all 300+ right now, but it was very interesting to see the costumes. I'm sure the music was great also. There were several different versions of pipes, I see.
In Germany, where I am located now, I often see variations on the pipes, some with two drones and often with different tunings than the Great Highland Bagpipes. Usually these are at medieval faires and such.
Welcome to the forum and hope you come back often.
Tom

Thanks for the photo link. Are they yours? I looked at all 322 of them. I wish some of them came with phone numbers.
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

Britt/Brett is a family name from England in my lineage...guessing that means they came from Brittany before England...William the Conquerer etc.
Goes back to my 11 great grandfather, a Thomas Brett born about 1535 in St. Clements, Hastings, Sussex
Just know the folks in the photos look a LOT like some of my relatives.

Glaztattoo,
thanks for the pics. I've not been to the L'Orient festival in about 10 years. It's great to see the other-than-scottish piping traditions represented on here. The Breton bagads are, without doubt, the finest pipers in the world. I love the Galician bandas as well and it's nice to see them in your photos.
