    The Finland Tour

    I just came back from a tour in Finland. I'm a piper and traditional singer.

    This tour was organized (and very well organized ) by my friend Minna Raskinen.

    Minna is a world famous kantele player. She can also send text messages on 2 phones at the same time !

    I made it !

    welcome to Finland !

    Minna's place;

    Minna and I have met on a Folkworks tour in England in 1992, with Dave Swarbrick, Maddy Prior and many other great musicians from the Folk scene... I guess I can say we are old friends...

    A typical view in Finland.

    Minna's place again;

    The sauna cabin...

    Another kind of cabin...

    Stay tuned : More to come !

    The result of Minna's hard work in the media was huge press articles and a fantastic tour in South East Finland (Carelia).

    Here is a very interesting place with great acoustics.

    Minna gives it a try;

    Great shot Robert!

    I'm always amazed by the beauty of the landscape and architecture in far Northern Europe.

    It looks like a wonderful tour.

    and PLEASE tell me you bought a knife from the vendor in the second to last group of pictures?!? My father has an old German North Seas fisherman's (if I remember correctly) knife of very similar design to those, that I believe was my Great-Great Grandfather's. They are wonderful knives, and can be sharpened up to a very wicked edge.

    I'm also in love with the wooden goblets from the last group of pix!

    Awesome pictures Robert. I've never seen those particular bagpipes before. Is there somewhere online where we can hear you playing them?
