Fleeces & acrylic kilt & cotton

Some of you may remember I bought this cheap acrylic kilt new on e-bay back in the summer for under £20. You don't get a smart dressy kilt at that price and after a couple of brief outings I hadn't worn it again. Ann suggested it would look good with my winter fleeces so I dug it out again over the weekend.

Time for another photoshoot beside that red fence.

Then I pulled on an outer fleece for heading into town to go to the bank, to call at a local lawyer's office to collect some work, the garage to fill the car with deisel, and finally the supermarket for the week's groceries.

I met lots of people and received absolutely no comments on the kilt, nor any stares, which is just the way it should be - every day casual clothing for modern man.
Oh and the cotton? As it is a very light kilt for winter time, for the first time I wore an under lining - the lower part of an old cotton tee-shirt cut off at the arms and stitched to an old Jockey y-fronts waistband. I made this up a couple of years ago but was self conscious about stepping out, lest the kilt would blow up in the wind and expose the under shirt. I needn't have worried, not only did the cotton provide added warmth but it stuck to the inside of the acrylic, helping to hold the kilt in place in the wind.

Looks good, from the pics you wouldn't be able to tell it was a "cheap" kilt.
