    Friday at work

    Hello all,

I work in a fairly conservative office, so when I got a chance to wear my kilt to work and get away with it I did. Even though I had to use Halloween as a reason to do it.

Friday was dress up day at work. I chose something that I would maybe wear to a Games or a Ren Fair rather than just being kilted. I didn't want just my kilt be the "costume". It didn't feel right to just be kilted and say that is a costume. I wore my SWK black shadow kilt that I purchased from Phogfan 86 here on the forum and a leather vest I purchased from Zardoz. Thanks to these two great guys of the forum I was able to put something pretty good together I think. Oh, I made my own Hose Flashes for the day as well.

So, I followed a look I've seen my friend Zardoz sport in several photos and I got kilted up and headed to work. I was pretty worried because I haven't went out and about kilted much except for going to a Games, so I didn't know what the response would be from others.

My first kilted experience at work turned out to be a success. Everyone loved how I looked. Not one rude comment all day! Of course I had a few comments like, "no handstands" and "nice knees" but those were all friendly. One lady asked me if it was true what they say about kilts. I played stupid and said, is what true? She said "you know in that Braveheart film none on the guys wore underwear and I know you just got over a cold so I don't want you to catch a cold draft to make you sick again". I laughed and thanked her for being concerned about my well being but I never did answer her question. I thought that was a great attempt on her part to be politically correct in asking a question like this in an office setting.

The day went so well, I think I'm going to venture going out in my kilt more ofen, but just for the love of wearing the kilt the next time.

Here is a few photo of what I wore. Please let me know what you think? I've tried to take into account all the tips I learned from the forum, if there are any I'm missing please let me know so I can correct it the next time. Thanks everyone.

Looks great! I dressed up with the same idea in mind. I just used it as an excuse to wear the kilt. However, I wore it as I normally wood. I told all my students it was not a costume in each class I taught. Although, I did not care what they think. I don't care if they thought it was a skirt (which many said it was) or if they thought it was a costume. It was about me enjoying the day. And I did!

That's a good look. Sounds like a good day at work. Now that you've broken the ice in the office, it will be easier to work it in to normal wear once or twice a month.

You might try using St. Andrew's Day (Nov. 30) as an excuse to wear the kilt again. My brother started that way and now wears his kilt full-time.
