Galalaw Hill Walk

Now that the ground has dried out after the summer rains, conditions are superb for hill walking here in Scotland right now. Here I am out the back earlier today ready to tackle a local minor summit, Galalaw.

It was crisp and frosty along the trail.

The tripod must have been a wee bit tispy.

The low winter sun casts long shadows.

Kissin's oot o' season when the gorse is no in bloom.
True to the old saying, even in wintertime a few gorse bushes in flower are to be found by the top of the sunny south facing slope.

A view looking across the Teviot Valley, with in the foreground the old Galalaw farm steading, beyond and below is Burnfoot housing estate and beyond and below that the town of Hawick nestles in the valley floor.

What a glorious day for a walk young man - outside right now we have 6 inches of slush everywhere with snow and rain on the way... Someone is going to have to tell me how to move to Scotland... permanently.
Thanks (I think...) for the photos!

Yes, I think you need to consider a move to Scotland.
Scotland is obviously an attractive country judging by all the immigrants coming here nowadays. The days of the highland clearances are long in the past.

Straight after lunch, to catch the afternoon daylight. It gets dark here about half past three in the afternoon at this time of year.

As soon as I win the lottery, I'm going to find myself a nice little cottage in a nice little village, somewhere in the Highlands.
