Good, Bad or Ugly replacement thread

this is take 2 as take one had issues,
now with questionable text removed here we go...

Kilted at last!
now all i need is a better shirt and a Jacket that fits correctly with a Kilt.

too bad i didn't have someone to actually take the picture as i could not rescue my tripod from the pile of junk that is holding it captive.

also i think i need to iron the apron of my kilt just a touch because it seems to have taken on a crease from being folded during shipping.
there is also a crease about 2" in from the fringe edge of the apron, and I'm not sure if it's supposed to be there or not.
but I'm sure I'll get these little quirks worked out.

Looking great.

Advice on the creases:
Use a hankerchief, or some sort of flat cotton cloth between the iron and the tartan. Also, it should also come out by pressing rather than "ironing." Good luck!

A beauty of a kilt!

Until I bought a fabric steamer ($20 @ Target) I would just hang the kilt on the shower rod and use the steam iron on "surge" setting to steam out the wrinkles and creases. May take a bit longer that way, but you're sure to avoid putting more creases in or getting the "shiny fabric" thing going.

Enjoy your knees in the breeze!

Personally I would replace the plain white T with a Polo or Oxford, maybe even a black T with something witty written on it. The jacket looks a little over sized, get something that fits a little better, a good guideline is to make sure the shoulder/arm seams are actually at the joint where your arm meets your torso.
Otherwise, it's a very nice kilt and it looks as if it fits well.

one odd thing i had to get used to was the way a Kilt feels at the waist.
it fits much more loosely than jeans do so i kept checking to make sure it wasn't slipping off.
but she wasn't slipping down at all.

My two cents worth of comments.

You kilt looks very nice but could be worn at your natural waist. (About 1" to 1 1/2" Higher than you are wearing it.) That would bring the hem to right at the top of the knee cap. When a Traditional Style kilt is cinched on it should feel almost like a kidney belt in the back.

It also appears to be just a touch big on you. There should be no wrinkles or wavering of the front apron. The apron should be hanging in one smooth curtain in the front.

Try a darker shirt and see what you think. A darker color would look very nice and balance the dark of the Tartan. I usually only wear a T-shirt with the most casual look with boots and pushed down socks.

Lose the White socks. Very white hose are usually worn only by pipebands. A nice Lovat Green goes very well with that Tartan.

Definitely steam out those wrinkles. They are just from the shipping and not supposed to be there. With Acrylic, the hanging in the bathroom when you take a hot shower trick, usually works.

Congratulations on a very nice kilt. Wear it with pride.
